Friday, August 18th, 2023…

marked an exciting milestone as KBCAN embarked on a new journey, accompanied by five cherished members of the ballroom community. The inauguration of the New York City Pride Fellowship (NYCPF), named in honor of its esteemed funder, unfolded gracefully at Cafeteria. Amidst an exquisite spread of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, the Fellows convened to exchange ideas, explore available resources, and share reflections from recent international trips.

The NYCPF stands as a shining addition to KBCAN’s suite of programs, representing the second official fellowship that seeks to empower ballroom community organizers and event planners alike. In the forthcoming 9 to 12 months, the NYC Pride Fellows will experience a transformative journey, receiving dedicated support and guidance from KBCAN. This mentorship aims to achieve two primary objectives: firstly, enhancing professional development and bolstering their capabilities, and secondly, orchestrating a captivating, community-centric event for the ballroom sphere and its allies.

Immersive workshops will be readily accessible to the Fellows, covering an array of crucial topics such as event planning intricacies, adept budgeting and successful fundraising strategies, seamless event logistics management, impactful social media utilization, and the art of capturing outcomes and measuring impact. As this promising initiative takes flight, it not only propels the individual growth of the Fellows but also contributes to the vibrant tapestry of the ballroom community's future.

We are elated to welcome the inaugural cohort of NYC Pride Fellows! Congratulations!
